Collapsible Crates Made to Order

Plywood crates that assemble without tools and fold flat to about 1/50 of their assembled volume. Made to order for machinery parts, industrial components and export shipments.

Transport crates that assemble without tools and return almost flat.

Our collapsible crates are made to order from 8 mm plywood. The panels are joined with sheet-metal plates, so a crate can be assembled without tools and taken apart again after use. Collapsed, it takes up about 1/50 of its assembled volume, which means empty crates can be stored or sent back using very little space and transport cost.

Depending on size and design, each crate can carry up to about 3,000 kg. Crates can be stacked, and foam inserts are available on request. Looking for non-collapsible wooden packaging? See our plywood and wooden packaging.

Why use collapsible crates for shipping?

A collapsible crate protects your goods like a rigid crate, then folds away when it is empty. Here is what that means in practice.

Space saving on return trips

A collapsed crate takes up about 1/50 of its assembled volume, so empty crates need very little room in storage or on the way back.

Reusable for several trips

Each crate is designed for repeated use, which helps spread the packaging cost over several shipments.

Strong and stackable

Load capacity up to about 3,000 kg, depending on size and design. Crates can be stacked in the warehouse and on the truck.

Assembly without tools

Sheet-metal plates join the plywood panels, so the crates go together and come apart again without tools.

Made to order

Every crate is produced to order, so it can be planned around what you ship.

Protection with foam inserts

Foam inserts are available on request to hold your goods in place and absorb shocks and vibration.

What can you ship in collapsible crates?

Collapsible crates are well suited to dry or covered transport and storage of industrial goods. These are the typical fits.

Collapsible crates for machinery parts

A good fit for heavy, awkward machinery and spare parts that need a sturdy crate, often with a fitted foam insert, and that travel repeatedly between the same sites.

Automotive and industrial components

Well suited to supplier-to-plant shipments, where returnable, stackable crates reduce waste and the space taken by empty return trips.

Metal and engineered parts

A practical choice for fabricated, machined or cast items, where load capacity and stackability matter in the warehouse and on the truck.

Electrical and electronic equipment

Suitable for control cabinets, motors, drives and instruments. With foam inserts, these can be protected against shocks and vibration.

Export and return logistics

Because the crates fold to about 1/50 of their assembled volume, empty crates can be sent back or stored using very little space and transport cost.

Warehouse storage and internal transport

A good fit for bulky items in storage and internal transport: crates are kept flat when not in use and assembled quickly without tools.
Not recommended for:
  • Outdoor storage or wet or humid conditions, because plywood is not waterproof
  • Direct contact with food
  • Liquids, chemicals or hazardous goods

Tell us what you ship and we will design the crate to fit.
